Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

If You’re Using Second Skin Bandage

Please follow the specific instructions provided after your appointment. The duration to keep the bandage on varies according to the tattoo type:

  • Lighter, fine-line work: Keep the bandage on for up to 3 days max.

  • Heavier shading or large areas: Keep the bandage on for 5-7 days, as instructed.

You may shower with the bandage on, but do not submerge it in water. Avoid sweating while the bandage is on, as trapped salty sweat can negatively affect healing.

When It’s Time to Remove the Bandage

  • Take a hot shower to help loosen the adhesive.

  • Slowly peel the bandage off in the shower — let the water do most of the work.

  • Let the tattoo rinse naturally; do not scrub.

  • Pat dry gently or allow to air dry completely.

Moisturizing

  • Begin moisturizing immediately after bandage removal.

  • Use a natural, unscented moisturizer twice daily for two weeks.

  • For fine-line tattoos, select a water-based moisturizer.

Cleaning

Cleaning is not always necessary. Consider these guidelines:

  • If your tattoo becomes dirty, wash it gently with mild soap and warm water.

  • If the tattoo is undisturbed and healing well, it’s best to leave it alone.

Additional Tips

  • Stay hydrated — drinking plenty of water supports skin healing.

  • Keep the tattooed area as still as possible during the healing process.

  • Healing may take up to one month to feel flat to the touch.

  • Avoid swimming, sweating, and excess friction or wear on the tattooed area.

Take care and good luck with your new piece!
